Shawn Brice supports and envelops each song with a skillful repertoire of funky beats, nostalgic melodies and the perfect dramatic drive to bring out the full power contained in each track. "It was a challenge to work on these songs," says Shawn "since each one needed to have a distinct identity, and yet come across as a cohesive whole." The album was recorded and mixed at Shawn's Mad Dog Studio in Oakland, CA (aptly named for his Chihuahua who wanted to sing on several tracks.) "She has a beautiful, soulful voice, but it didn't seem appropriate somehow..." muses Shawn.

"We are looking forward to performing this material live," says Maria. "Hopefully this will come as welcome news to all those who have been asking when - and if - we were ever going to play again." When asked if we could expect the same kind of performance as a live Battery show, Maria replies, "Not exactly. We're anticipating that these songs will work well in a "smoky bar" type of atmosphere. With Battery, shows were always such a big production, and we were never able to put the time we wanted to into creating the elaborate stage-show we had envisioned for Ivoux. Shawn and I are putting all that pressure behind us. These upcoming shows will be all about the music, the intention of it all... very low key, just playing music in an informal atmosphere for whoever wants to hear it, because that's what we enjoy doing."
