In December 1996, Maria Azevedo and Evan Sornstein created a cassette only release titled frozen.

The concept was to write a suite of music based on various female winter myths and fairy tales. The tape contained 6 songs: the white witch, proserpina, sif, yuki-onna, koturine, and the snow queen. The cassette was presented in a white box, with a white packing material, and accompanied by a small booklet.

The tape was given as a present to their friends and families. The response was, "You need to put this out." At the same time, Evan and Maria wanted the input of Shawn. He also wanted to work on it, so the three planned to re-record the songs and put them out on CD. COP International offered an opportunity to release the project on their new sister label, THE FEDERATION.

Why not BATTERY? That question has been asked a number of times. Well, the music isn't exactly like BATTERY. It has a broader appeal (hopefully). Plus, Choosing another name allowed them to create whatever they wanted. They weren't tied down by the idea that it had to sound like BATTERY.

The first name that was chosen was INFLUX. This seemed logical, because the URL of the web page is BATTERYinflux.com. They worked with that name nearly until the album was finished. Suddenly, They received word that there already existed a fine band named INFLUX. After many discussions, they chose the name ALLEGORY. Alas, that name was also taken.

They finally decided to create a name that doesn't exist... IVOUX(pronounced by most as EEE-VOE,but variants are fine.)

The album is available NOW.
